“The Frog”, A Bodypainting Masterpiece by Johannes Stötter

Do you recognize what type of frog Johannes Stötter has painted above? Pay attention to the curves and texture of the animal and realize it’s not a frog at all but five people in bodypaint. Johannes Stötter is an internationally recognized artist. He is the 2013 winner of the World Bodypaint Championship, beating Einat Dan and Min ah Kim.

Here is a video of “The Frog” as performance art.

Stötter’s work is eery and surreal, merging a human with objects and elements. Having been painted on the human canvas, the art itself is ephemeral, captured only in photography and video.
