“Dumb Ways to Die”, A PSA from Melbourne’s Metro

A couple of weeks ago, Melbourne Metro released a PSA that has gone viral. The morbid lyrics, written by John Mescall are undercut by the catchy tune and sweet vocals, reminiscent of Nina Gordon’s cover of NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton”. It was sung by Emily Lubitz of Tinpan Orange, with music by Ollie McGill of The Cat Empire. Surprisingly, there are no crocodile related death scenarios in the song. This is from the country that gave us Crocodile Dundee and The Crocodile Hunter— essentially the country that invented the crocodile (citation needed). But I suppose crocodile wrestling is a national pastime over there and is the only acceptable way to die (again, citation needed).
