Superman 75th Anniversary Animated Short Directed by Zack Snyder Highlights the Evolution of The Man of Steel

DC Comics just posted perhaps the coolest Superman animated short ever made. Prepare to travel through the last 75 years of Superman’s history in just a couple minutes.

According to the DC Comics blog post “The Superman Anniversary Short: 75 Points of Annotation”:

The Superman 75th Anniversary short was directed by Zack Snyder, who also directed this summer’s Man of Steel. However, he was assisted by many other luminaries of DC Comics animation, including Bruce Timm and Jay Oliva.

Perhaps my favorite moment in the animation is a flyaway done in the style below at around 0:58 because it reminds me of a Superman book and record set I had as a kid.

The animation ends with a new logo to commemorate Superman’s rich 75 year history.

Now go back and watch the animated short again, I know I will. I recommend making the time to check out the DC comics blog post which compiles each and every Superman reference used to create the animation.
