How is the Trask Industries Ad Related to the X-Men: Days of Future Past Viral Campaign?

The newly released Trask Industries advertisement is an excellent start to the X-Men: Days of Future Past viral promotion campaign.

The accompanying Trask Industries website includes background information on the company that produces the Sentinel robots set to appear in the newest X-Men movie. The Trask Industries website creates an alternate reality that is similar to the approach used for the Weyland Industries site developed for the movie Prometheus. X-Men: Days of Future is nearly a year away, it wouldn’t be surprising if this Trask site becomes part of an alternate reality game leading up to the movie’s release. For now, here’s how Trask Industries fits into the bigger picture of a story about super-human mutants:

Founded by Bolivar Trask in 1967, Trask Industries was built on the philosophy of advancing human progress through technology and genetics. Our early research led to the revolutionary development of DNA-Generated Prosthetics. Since then, Trask Industries has taken the lead in genetics-based defense technology with our Mutant Detection Device and Sentinel program. We’ve partnered with international governments to ensure that any threat to human extinction is preemptively neutralized. With Trask Industries, you can rest assured that the future of humanity is in safe hands.

Also on the site are awesome alternate-history visuals like this shot of a Sentinel robot as a member of the U.S. President’s security attache.

The new film is inspired by the Days of Future Past X-Men comics storyline and will involve time travel that may consolidate the previous X-Men movies into a single narrative.
