Tate Srey - Tate Srey is an artist and an engineer. He is a nerd who likes to lift heavy things and put them back down again. He loves to run and swim and build things. He makes his own wine and beer, and dies a little inside when he has to pay more than $5 for draft. I am supposedly the creative one in my relationship but my wife is the driving force in trying to make us… let’s say “less fartsy and more artsy”. We live a few miles from the nation’s capital and want to experience more of its culture, outside of sports and politics. When the Artisphere hosted a Family Fun Day Open House to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of its opening, we went.
The Artisphere is Rosslyn, Virginia’s art center. It is housed in the Newseum’s former location and opened its doors in October 2010. Arlington Country had accepted the building landlord’s offer to lease it rent free for 20 years and to use it as a cultural center. The ‘Artisphere’ name came from an opinion poll of Arlington County residents and was inspired by its geodesic dome. The dome is distinct among its architectural landscape and houses one of the center’s theaters…
