Directors Spielberg and Lucas Predict ‘Massive Implosion’ in Film Industry
Yesterday on June 13, 2013, The Verge’s Brian Bishop published a story with the provocative headline “Steven Spielberg and George Lucas predict ‘massive implosion’ in film industry”. The article covers a panel discussion held at the University of Southern California by directors George Lucas and Steven Speilberg and Microsoft’s President of Interactive Entertainment Don Mattrick. Quickly, their predictions include $50-100 trips to high-end movie theaters, diversification of content on television, and an indie emphasis on publishing content directly to the internet first. GeoGuessr uses the Google Maps API to do something novel and fun by making a game of guessing where you might be in the world. The photo above is a typical view of how the game begins. By using clues like road signs, tree types, and weather you are encouraged to deduce where you are in the world according to Google Maps.
