The 2012 Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. I’ve been attending the Grand Prix as part of the SocialGP group and trying to take pictures and share them whenever possible. My friends and I showed up early on Saturday to check out the paddock and enjoy the sights and sounds of the qualifying cars.
The circuit runs throughout the Baltimore Inner Harbor and beside Camden Yards. Our group meandered throughout the day and enjoyed a tour of Ryan Hunter-Reay‘s garage in the afternoon. Mechanics talked to us about Ryan’s car and were generally insightful about the Andretti team and sport of IndyCar racing. After a great day of meeting several race team members my friends and I enjoyed the American Le Mans Series race in the afternoon. At the end of the day we made our way to the Sunoco Victory Stage and checked out the awards ceremony before it was abruptly rained out. Fortunately, we made our way into the convention center and were able to take pictures of the ALMS Baltimore race ceremony.
The SocialGP has been an educational experience for me. I’m thankful of the opportunity and of the people I’ve met during the experience. Having missed Friday’s activities I’m totally stoked for a great IndyCar race on Sunday and of taking the time to absorb the humor, passion, and skill that has been demonstrated over the last week while the Grand Prix has made its mark on Baltimore. Tomorrow I’ll be attending with a new set of friends and expect a different experience from today. I’ll be sharing those pictures later on Sunday or Monday as I rest and enjoy the memories.
