The Anatomy of a Spider-Man Visual Effects Shot

Sony Imageworks has posted excellent breakdowns on YouTube of movie vfx shots they have created. Particularly cool is this three minute deconstruction of the high school fight scene between the Lizard and Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man. Sony Imageworks Sr. Visual Effects Supervisor Jerome Chen does a great job explaining the need to ground the exchange between the characters in believable physics and the importance of texturing and lighting to highlight key moments in the battle. We recommend following Imageworks on Twitter for timely updates on great CG news.

Not enough Spidey coolness? Enjoy this high-res photo of the web-crawler by Jaimie Trueblood for Columbia Pictures.
