A couple of years ago, GameCrush created a website that matched video game players with gamers, allowing them to play a match together. This, in and of itself, is innocuous. Any multi-player game will have a lobby system that creates matches as a standard feature. But GameCrush was billed as a social gaming site to connect guys with female gamers. GameCrush may have mistakenly thought that since females don’t exist on the internet, let alone a female gamer, they can place some kind of monetary value on this rare commodity. Though the matching and messaging system were free, the site encouraged giving gifts to a person before requesting a match. These gifts translated into real world dollars. This begged the question: “Would you pay a girl to play video games with you?” The idea is novel, though it’s tinged with frustrated sexuality and is a bit unnerving. The service GameCrush provided didn’t do the gaming culture any favors, and only served to propagate a stereotype. Their website states they are are apparently revamping, read: their previous business model didn’t work.
We at UPT had joked about other ridiculous non-sexual things a guy may be willing to pay an attractive woman to do. True, anything innocuous can be fetishized. Rule 34 (warning:NSFW) is the internet axiom that proves this.
Chief among our ideas: pay an attractive female to read to you. A close second was paying someone to spoon with you. Here is Rule 38 in action: if it exists, it’s probably in Japan.
A Japan Today article wrote about Soineya, Japan’s co-sleeping specialty shop, where you can rent a cuddle buddy to do just that: cuddle.
Soineya is located in the heart of the electronic and otaku district, Akihabara.
This is relatively tame, given this from the land that invented tentacle porn.
Though we doubt any tentacles will be allowed here– but by the powers of Rules 34 and 38 combined, it’ll only be a matter of time. The premise of Soineya is that you pay a fee and a girl will do various sleep related (non-sexual) things with you. Such as letting you sleep with your head on her lap or letting her sleep with hers on your lap. It’s 3000 yen to get in the door and then from there you get to pick how much time you and your cuddle buddy have together and how much it’ll cost you for that special time.
- 20 min – 3,000 yen
- 40 min – 5,000 yen (dicounted to 3,000 yen for first time visitors)
- 60 min – 6,000 yen
- 2 hrs – 11,000 yen
- 3 hrs – 16,000 yen
- 4 hrs – 20,000 yen
- 5 hrs – 25,000 yen
- 6 hrs – 30,000 yen
- 10 hrs – 50,000 yen
It seems your companions are randomly selected for you, but if one girl catches your eye that’s an extra 1000 yen and then an additional 500 per hour. Incentive to keep things unattached and purely platonic unless you’re willing to pony up some cash.
That’s not the only “upgrade” you can get though. They have an additional list of optional choices for the cuddle connoisseur.
- Customer sleeps in girl’s arm (3 min) – 1,000 yen
- Girl pats customer on the back (3 min) – 1,000 yen
- Customer pets girl on the head (3 min) – 1,000 yen
- Customer and girl stare at each other (1 min) – 1,000 yen
- Girl changes clothes (1 time) – 1,000 yen
- Girl gives customer foot massage (3 min) – 1,000 yen
- Customer gives girl foot massage (3 min) – 2,000 yen
- Customer sleeps with head on girl’s lap (3 min) – 1,000 yen
- Girl sleeps with head on customer’s lap (3 min) – 2,000 yen
Seems like the prices are dramatically increased if you actually want a short timed interaction. Though I doubt 3 minutes is more than anyone really needs.
