The Avengers Opens Huge

According to Box Office Mojo, The Avengers movie managed to pull in $207.4 million during opening weekend in the United States. Few movies have been as eagerly anticipated as this Marvel Studios goliath. Careful crafting by the studio and filmmakers leading up to this superhero crossover has been years in the making and the result is nothing less than astounding.  The story is well balanced, the characters are endearing and imperfect, and the pacing only slightly suffers in the first act. Expectations are high for multiple viewings to this family-friendly superhero extravaganza. The film is a true spectacle and a testament to modern movie-making magic. The Avengers is reported to have had a budget of $220 million and currently has made $478 million in international theaters. With the largest opening weekend in cinematic history and buzz about the movie extending all over the globe it seems the superhero genre is here to stay.
